Joseph G. Kilmon
Easton, Joseph George Kilmon of Easton, died at his home on Thursday, October 18, 2012. He was 75.
Born with his twin brother Charles Edward, in Easton, on June 12, 1937 he was the son of the late Levi Scott and Mary M. Strohmer Kilmon. Joe attended the first six years of school at the Royal Oak Elementary School, In Royal Oak; he then went to St. Michaels High School where he became student council president. Joe graduated in 1955 then enlisted in the U.S. Army, he served his country honorably for three years two and one half of which he was stationed in Germany. He was discharged in 1958 with the rank of sergeant.
Joe worked at odd jobs until 1960, when he went to work for Waverly Press in Easton he made a career there, and retired as plant manager of Cadmus Printing in 1994 after thirty eight and a half years.
Mr. Kilmon was a life member of St. Michaels Fire Dept., Station 40 where he served as Chief, President, as well as many other offices, He was an honorary member of the Tilghman Fire Dept., he served as head of the Talbot Co. Fire Chief’s Association for two years, and was Chairman of the St. Michaels Board of Port Wardens.
Joe was an avid fisherman and waterman. He worked on the water part-time during his life he loved being on the water, and had boats most of his life.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Betty Sue Dyer Kilmon whom he married on June 27, 1968, three sons; Joseph G. Kilmon, Jr. of Easton, Christopher S. Kilmon, Michael V. Kilmon and his wife Jennifer of Easton, one daughter; Anita S. Kilmon of Trappe, four brothers; William “Bill” Kilmon and his companion Margaret of Annapolis, Edward Kilmon, Scott Kilmon and wife Susan, and Albert Kilmon and wife Carol all of Royal Oak, 12 Grandchildren; Stephanie, Staci, Sarah, Skyler, Joel, Jared, Bethany, Andrew, Zachariah, Shelby, Evan and Addison. Three Great-grandchildren; Malachi, Annabelle and Jasmine. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Roe, a granddaughter; Jacklyn Kilmon, and a grandson Joseph G. Kilmon III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 11:00AM at the St. Michaels Mission Chapel, on Lincoln Ave., St. Michaels. Friends may call on Monday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Hurley & Ostrowski Funeral Home P.A. St. Michaels.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton, MD.
